Like
many of the fellows that I knew for a short time I have
forgotten his family name. They didn't have much mail
arriving or many occasions for me to use it during a relationship.
Certainly they have gone from my memory now.
After
the disappointment of finding Gary, my partner for the
last couple of months had packed his bags and gone leaving
me alone on 31 December. I recovered quickly and decided
that I would not like to spend New Year's Eve and New
Year's Day on my own. I'd been down to my friend Rita
who'd comforted me and agreed to drive up to a bar in
the East End so that I could have a few drinks, drown
my sorrows and try to find a good-looking lad to refill
my now empty bed.
We went to a gay bar in Hackney. The place was not very
busy when we arrived and we took a seat at a table near
the small stage where there would be cabaret playing later
in the evening.
I
was not in a very good mood because I had been let down
by Gary and although Rita had done her best to cheer me
up on the journey across I was still snappy and irritable.
