My Wedding Photographs

The local newspaper reported on our Wedding:
"A sales representative Mr John Ross MacLeod, Waterford Hotel Grantown, was married in Inverallan church to Miss Olive Beatrice Hunter, 2 Davidson Terrace, Lairg. Given away by her father the bride was attended by Miss Irene Cnota, Lairg. Mr David MacLeod brother of the bridegroom was best man. The Rev G. B. Johnston officiated."

I had a professional photographer Mr Leddingham attend at my wedding as you can see by the results. His are the black and white shots that are not very inspiring. The colour shots were taken by a friend while using my camera which had a transparency film in it at the time. He doesn't have any knowledge of cameras but did the best he could. ;-)
11th August 1972 in Grantown-on-Spey. Morayshire. Scotland.
After consultation with our families we decided to have a small wedding in the company of thirty guests. The cake we ordered turned out to be a deliciously rich fruit cake that had been marinated in alcohol and topped with marzipan and royal icing. When we tasted it we found it to be deliciously moist and succulent. Cut the cakeClick to enlarge
My brother, David who was 22 years of age when I married, can be seen here on my right. At this time the flared style was the height of fashion and he was looking immaculate. He had recently purchased the new suit. especially for the wedding and appeared very pleased with himself. I felt happy and was proud of my little brother on that great occasion. David and Irene with my wife and I.
Here in this picture we are joined by Mike Mckenzie known locally as 'Mickey Mouse'. you may have read about how I met Mike in a story I have written. Later after the Wedding breakfast and dance he was going to drive the limo that would bear us away. We had booked a room in an hotel for our honeymoon near the small fishing village of Lochinver, on the north west coast, where we expected to get away from it all and have a quiet and relaxed holiday. group with my mother in law
This shot was taken outside the church and reading from the left we can see, Harry Hunter my father in law next to my sister Christine with her husband Eddie Muirden. Behind her stands Helen our mother with my younger brother David between us. To the right of my wife is her best friend and bridesmaid Irene Cnota. The next is my stepfather Sandy squeezed in next to my mother-in-law, Mootsie, at the end of the row. This was the mixing together of the two families. Olive's son, my step-son, Calum stands in front. 04 Group outside the church
Taken by my mate 'Mickey Mouse'. This shows the sober colours worn on the day. My wife wore a navy-blue and white high necked dress, a white hat with a wide lace brim. Her posy was mainly white flowers with a touch of feminine pinks. I wore a deep blue three piece suit, a dark mauve silk shirt with matching tie and handkerchief as well as the obligatory white carnation. We're with the bestman and bridesmaid
Our little boy Calum was very restless that day. He did not understand and didn't want to be at the wedding at all. He would not stand still at all for Mr Leddingham who soon gave up on him. My wife, Olive tried to help straighten him up but as you can see she had no more success than Leddingham. Group in colour outside the church
As the afternoon wore on we were able to find some time to rest and hug up to appreciate each other and what a momentous day we had had. This then is how Mickey Mouse found us taking time out before we changed into our 'going away' clothes. To bed at last
