Diary 10th January 2001& Images
Fly by Wire.
Wednesday 10thJanuary.
After checking out the photographs that had been taken when we got back
to the office the crowd dispersed and I drove back to my B&B. I
freshen up and had myself ready to be picked up at 1330 by Blair and
Mike.
 There were only two other people in the minibus who were going to do the fly by wire one a Scots girl called Ann and the other an Austrian by name of Christoph. |

As we get closer the wire hawsers suspended between the mountain tops from which we will 'fly' become clearer and the idea of being suspended from this looks frightening. |
We got kitted out in red coveralls. Christoph elected to go first. I took photographs of his flight which was very good and he appeared to be enjoying himself enormously. |
Ann elected to go secondand after as you returned I strapped myself into the missile. The motor started and the slack was taken up. I gave Christoph my camera and he managed to get some interesting shots of me flying between the two mountain tops. |
I was hoisted up to the top of the mountain feet first. It is an exhilarating and frightening experience to be suspended in this way. |
I released the break and soared accross to the other side of the valley. |
It took a minute or so to get the feel of the machine and be able to steer it with any confidence. |
then one can relax and enjoying the ride and the wind rushing through one's hair. |

I purchased a video of my flying for $20 which I believe lasts about four to six minutes but I wont see that until I return to England as they will post it directly to my friend Peter for me.
After the flight I was dropped off at my B&B. I took a spin around town, had a delicious fish dinner in the Tahuna restuarant bar then came back to spend the rest of the evening updating on my laptop.
Since I have a very long day tomorrow I intend to be in bed before midnight.
