An easier days drive than yesterday. I left Napier at 0930 and drove through the beautiful countryside in the warm sunshine arriving in Whangarei just after 1400. I went into the town and looked around for a while before deciding to have my haircut. Unfortunately I found myself in receipt of a dreadful cut by an old barber. I told him what I thought of the haircut and his inability to do a good job.

It will grow out so why worry. I wandered around the town looking at the scenery. After the high a typical of Napier this was a quiet much more conservative place.

I had some fun and laughter sitting chatting to these three local guys. the afternoon were on and I decided it was time to go to checkout my accommodation.

Neither Cathy nor Mel, my hosts, were there when I rang the doorbell but theirdaughter answered the door-bell and attended to my needs. I sat in the garden with my laptop and chatted to Mel when he arrived. Early dinner in town and then I slept from 2000 till 0230. As I couldn't sleep I worked on my web pages and downloaded mail before returning to bed at 0530
