At the airport I telephoned to confirm the shuttle was coming to take me to my hotel. It duly arrived at 2355 and took 30 minutes to drop off passengers at the various hotels. By the time I got booked into my room it was 0130 so I did not go far when I went out to explore the immediate area.

Thursday 25th January
I spent some time on the beach chatting to this interesting couple who having recently married in Japan were now on honeymoon. They had a polariod camera and the lassie wanted a picture of her husband and me. Naturally since I am such a charismatic fellow I obliged and then took a shot of each of them for my travelogue. If they read this I wish them a very happy life together.

Waikiki beach is not at all as large as it appears in films and on television Just a narrow strip of sand.

This is the polariod she took and gave me before we parted.

With the soft golden sand beneath our feet and the tropical sun on our shoulders

we each posed for the photographs to be taken.

In the early evening I went to Angles bar, a local gay bar which is situated on the next block and close to the hotel. After buying a drink I wandered around and I discovered that they allow their clients 15 minutes on-line at no charge to deal with their email. After a few enquiries I located Larry who is in charge of the computers, and he very kindly helped me get my email. Before I left he gave me a floppy with the AT&T ISP software on it so that I could access the web from my laptop in my hotel. Back at the hotel I loaded the software but found that I couldn't send my mail though I was able to receive it.

I rose 0730 and took the bus to the Airport from where I flew tothe volcanic Maui an island just a short way from Oaha.
002maui.jpg
It was a short flight over and when I arrived I picked up the rental car that I'd arranged for and left the airport to try to get my bearings on the town before I went up to the Volcanic Crater at nearly 10,000 feet high.
003maui.jpg
I am used to driving up mountains by now so it was interesting. The roads were very winding , steep and sometimes really narrow bridges crop up. This road is said to be the highest climb in the shortest distance in the whole world???
004maui.jpg
Looking carefully from the high ground one can see the winding road as it zig-zags upwards from the coastal plain. In the far distance breakers can be seen crashing on the shore under the tropical blue sky.
005maui.jpg
This is the actual Haleakala crater as seen from the rim. It has a peaceful ambiance in the cold mountain air. The textures and colour blends were so completely different to anything I had seen anywhere else.
006maui.jpg
On the top of this heap of lava sits the United States Satelaite tracking station with the white telescope domes against the skyline.
011maui.jpg
After descending from the volcanic heights I took a look at some of the colourful houses and gardens that lined the roads outside the villages near the coast. This was followed by lunch in Paia and a bit of exercise walking along with browsing through the shops.
013maui.jpg
I went to the beach tgo enjoy the sea breeze and take a swim in the wrm waters. There were people surfing and picnicing in the late afternoon sun so I relaxed and enjoyed the peaceful tranquillity.
014maui.jpg
I must have been exhausted for I fell asleep on the beach for a while before returning the car. I chatted to Reed Batt and his wife Marylyn from Ohio in the airport bar.
I arrived back at Waikiki surf hotel at 2145 after an interesting and enjoyable excursion. I made some fresh coffee, sat back and watched TV for a while before siting on the bed with the laptop on my knees.

Saturday 27th January
Worked on email and pics etc as I found out what was wrong, fixed it and can now send as well as receive. By the time I felt tired it was 0600 and I slept thro till midday. When I rose at midday I went down to the lobby, studied what was available and then booked some activities for the next few days.

For this evening I decided to sail into the sunset on the world renown Mai Tai Sail catamaran and view the coast and island from the sea. It seemed a good idea for Sunday afternoon to take a cruise on a fast stable motor yacht looking for whales. On Monday I had booked a circular island tour which takes a 120 mile trip round the island to see the mountain peaks and scenic shores it will stop off at the Polynesian culture centre for 3 hours. For Tuesday a trip out to Hot Island for some Jet skiing in the afternoon.

I arrived at the beach where the catamaran was pulled up on the sand, handed over my ticket and boarded. I went and sat down on a seat beside two American girls, Brenda and Kerry. As the boat filled up quickly I lit cigarette and sat quietly smoking and enjoying the warm sunshine thinking how wonderful it was to be on the beach at Waikiki.

Midships, about a meter away to my right there was a seat facing for' ad which had been taken up by an elderly grey-haired lady, her daughter and her grandson. It was when I swung around from looking over the ocean that I first saw this family. The woman leaned over toward me and said, "I hope you are not going to be smoking on the trip as it affects my health."
At this point I did not know whether smoking was permitted onboard or not but I was at the end of my cigarette anyway so I replied, "Madam, this is an open-air vessel and you have no monopoly. As soon as we get underway there will be a breeze and so you will not be affected by any of my smoke."
"Well I think you should move to another seat if you are going to smoke." I guessed she was a woman who was used to getting her own way.
"Madam, if you have any problem with my smoking I suggest you move." I responded deciding not to allow her to badger me.
"I am certainly not going to move, we are a family of four, you are a single person." She argued.
"It is not a question of numbers. If you don't like my smoking that's tough. You chose to sit there when I was already sitting here smoking. If you have come to cause trouble and behave like a megalomaniac you have picked on the wrong person. If you want a peaceful quiet trip then take your family and move." I spoke using a firm and authoritative tone of voice.
She now fully understood she had chosen a strong adversary as her face became red with rage and her voice faltered. "I will not move my family". If she could have stamped her foot I'm sure she would have done so. Her daughter tried to comfort her and told her to calm down as she was getting herself very worked up. The old lady shook herself free from her daughter's arms, looked straight at me but said nothing farther. "You really are behaving like a termagent. You're getting yourself all worked up, stressed and angry and that can't be good for you're heart at your age. Americans!" I finished.
"I am not an American. I am a Canadian." She all but screamed at me.

Having heard her raised voice a member of the crew came over to inquire if there was some problem. She explained and then she insisted that he tell me to move to a different seat. The handsome young man told her that this was not a non-smoking boat and the passengers were free to smoke if they wished. He apologised saying there was nothing he could do to help but asked her to move to the other side of boat where she would be away from any smoke or discomfort.
"I will not. You either get him to move or I'll take my family, you'll refund my money and we'll leave the boat." She informed him forthrightly.

Ian, it was later that I learned his name, asked me if I was prepared to move to a different seat. Much as I wanted to do something to please Ian and prevent him having to give a refund I could not let this old bitch get her way. I told him that I was not really prepared to move. The old woman's daughter tried to persuade the besom to move to the other side of the boat as she and her son wanted to continue on the catamaran. The selfish bitch refused and instructed her daughter to collect their belongings together as they were leaving. I have no idea whether they were given a refund and I never saw the forth member of the party leave.

001sunset.jpg
Presently we were ready to sailbut before casting off the skipper light-heartedly addressed the passengers saying, "If there is anyone else who wants to make any complaints now is the time to do it before we go." He got no response from anyone. "So everyone is okay?"
"Yes, we're fine. If that woman has trouble with smoke in t'open-air surely she should be hospitalised." the speaker laughed at his own joke.
He was a happy looking large black man wearing a red T-shirt while standing leaning against the rail on the other side of the boat. When my altercation with the old lady had taken place he had been standing leaning against the mast and had probably overheard most of the conversation.
002sunset.jpg
Soon we left the shore behind and moved out into the open water.
The tall buildings on the skyline eased behind the mast as we continued sailing in the late afternoon sunshine. I chatted to a couple of very interesting girls from Philadelphia then I espied Ian again as he began serving drinks to the guests. He joked with me about the altercation I'd had and asked what she had said in the beginging to start it all off. I enjoyed explaining it to him while I admired his threat and suntanned torso from close quarters.
003sunset.jpg
Once the consternation was over Brenda and Kerry, sitting on my left, thanked me. Brenda said, "I'm so pleased that you dealt with that terrible woman. We also smoke and it would have been us she turned on next."
"And by the way we are American." Kerry said with a grin.
"OK! I apologise. I'm not very good on accents and cannot really distinguish a Canadian from an American." I did not feel good about having accused the bitch of being an American.
"Well that's okay. We don't mind and we don't take offence there are too many Americans like her around." Kerry added to put the me at ease.

004sunset
The island recedes into the distance and we all settled down to enjoy the magic of the tropics. Honolulu and Waikiki beach by now distant with the mountains behind were becoming memories of the afternoon and the beer and cocktails loosened tougues as the waves lapped the bows of the boat
005sunset.jpg
These ladies enjoyed the water as it splashed up over thier suntanned, bikinied bodies spread out on the safety net that extended accross the bows of the twin hulled catamaran.
006sunset.jpg
I wanted to capture an image of the golden tanned skin of that hunk of manhood that had given me the rum punch earlier so asked Ian to pose at the bow for my camera. His golden body was a joy to behold but unfortunately I was not given the opportunity to hold it. ;-)
014whales.jpg
We sailed on the ocean for 11/2 hours before the light started to fade. By this time there was a good atmosphere and the passengers were getting to know each other a little.
016whales.jpg
The crew had kept us refreshed with drinks and nibbles steadily during the voyage and presently we saw the sun begin to go down over the horizon.

017whales.jpg
The sun sinks are so quickly one has barely time to get ones come out.

I managed to get some pictures of this less than spectacular event.

018whales.jpg
One has to see it to believe it happens so quickly. On this occasion it took about 41/2 minutes from

being a full ball of light until it had disappeared beneath the horizon.
022whales.jpg
After the sun set I met Mel from Arizona took his picture and got his address. he suggested that I visit him and his wife Ann if I pass by Arizona any time on my travels.
020whales.jpg
Lee, the happy easy gioing guy who had joked earlier and made us all laugh at his observations on the needed to hospitalise the agitated woman.
019whales.jpg
His wife Mamie did not have a lot to say but I noticed some one try to put a hand on her knee as she laughed with me and I snapped my camera shutter to capture the moment. Behind her I see the people begin to dance a little to the slow music that was now wafting its melody across the calm and peaceful tropical night

I had to re-rate my film speed up to ISO 400 to get an image of the Catamaran as it pulled away after disembarking the sunset revellers on the Waikiki beach in the evening darkness.

I had a very much enjoyed the sunset cruise. The people are dispersed in their various directions and it was all over.

I walked back to the hotel and checked my e-mail then went out to find a meal, some convivial chat and a bit of atmosphere. I did not have far to walk as they were having a 'special' on at the restaurant nearest to the hotel so I went in for a New York steak and lobster tail. The food was not wonderful, the service was okay and of course the price was fine. At around 2100 I left the table and went to the Angles bar as it was next-door.

After climbing the stairs to the first floor where the bar is located I took a look around and saw an interesting man sitting on a stool by himself. The bar was quite busy with Saturday night customers beginning to accumulate so I walked over and said to the fellow, "Hi, my name is Iain and I'm on holiday from Scotland." I held out my hand so that he could shake it. His grip was firm and he had a big smile when he looked up at me.
"My name is Woody. No don't say it." He said as he shook my hand and stood up.
"I won't say it and I won't ask what your surname is either so you can relax and sit down." I told him as I released his grip.
He was about five foot five inches tall very slim, which of course is my type, wearing a white singlet and blue jeans which as he stood up revealed what appeared to be a reasonably sized packet. I sat on the empty stool beside him for a minute or two and then indicated that I was going to the bar.
"Can I get you a beer or something?" I asked.
"No I'm fine thank you." He replied.

On my return Woody asked me to tell him something good. "What you mean 'tell you something good'?"
"Well anything, just tell me what's good."
"Meeting you was good, spending the rest of the evening with you will be good if you're agreeable to that." I responded.
A big grin spread across his face and he laughed at my reply "At the moment I have no problem with that. Let's see where it leads. Are you here on holiday?"

I told him about my adventure around the world and he laughed at some of the more amusing parts. As we continued talking he became much more tactile and after about 30 minutes we were sitting on our stools with our arms round each others shoulders. I found this very encouraging as I fancied him very much. He didn't have a lot to say for himself but often he would turn to me and say, "Tell me something good." At this I would find something good to tell him, though often they were ridiculous things. Most of them made him laugh and I enjoyed his wide open smile showing a deep pink tongue behind my teeth that together with the whites of his brown eyes added a sparkle to his smooth dark brown skin.

As the evening wore on the bar filled up and the atmosphere became quite noisy. It was difficult for us to hear each other so I suggested we leave and go to either his apartment or my hotel. He explained that his apartment was not in the immediate locality but expressed a willingness to go back to my hotel but he wanted to do it later rather than now. "Okay it's only 1130 so we can leave here around midnight. In the meantime can you tell me where the rest room is please?"
"Come with me I'll show you where it is." he said rising from the stool and moving in the direction of the men's room.
I followed and found there was no urinal free. Woody had gone straight into the closet and was standing with the door open so I joined him and we both pissed in the same pan. This allowed us to assess each other's manhood and apparently we were both satisfied as we took hold of each other's member, kissed passionately and with feeling before we zipped up our pants and returning to the bar.

At midnight we left the bar. Laughing and happy we walked back to my hotel. When we arrived in the room I offered him a glass of rum and coke which he accepted, I poured one for myself and led him over to the bed. We had an excellent session during which time I found myself in several different positions before eventually coming to a heartlifting climax at around 0100. We showered together and allowed ourselves to wind down after heat and passion that we had experienced. Woody dressed and I saw him out at 0115 then returned to my room to update my diary, check my e-mail and get some sleep. Got carried away and it was 0330 when I next looked at the clock. Sleep now after an eventful and fulfilling day.
