I had no idea that there were other young people like myself who preferred their own sex until that summer in Portsmouth. Discovering there were other gay people made it a really wonderful summer for me.

Terry and I were both unhappy with service life and wanted to leave the Navy,. but that was an expensive option and neither of us could afford to purchase our freedom.
