The falls of the river Shin were very much higher when I was a boy. Unfortunately the considerations of commercialism and tourism caused the falls to be blasted with dynamite in order to allow more salmon to swim up the river for the sport of the wealthy toffs looking for their seasonal fishing and shooting.
